Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan, Safar Mehdiyev, said that the new variant of the Customs Code may come into force in 2008.
According to him, the fact is the adoption of the Code by the Parliament of Azerbaijan. After this, the necessary normative and legal acts will be brought into conformity with the Code.
Modernization of the legislative base in accordance with the international standards has been envisaged within the project of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and European Union on modernization of the customs services. One of the tasks to ensure the sustainable development of the customs system in Azerbaijan was to devise the new variant of the Customs Code.
Therefore, experts who worked in Russia and Kazakhstan earlier were attracted. The Code reflects information technologies, as well as pays a special attention to the items stipulating the opportunities and activities of the customs officials.
