Next Monitoring Exercise to Reveal ‘Bird Flu’ Virus Due in April

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr Trend S.Babayeva / Ismayil Hasanov, Head of the State Vereinary Service of the Agricultuyre Ministry has recently stated that next monitoring exercise to reveal 'bird flu'in Azerbaijan will be held from 2 to 7 April.

Beginning from April monitoring exercises will be held twice a month.

"A danger related to spread of virus will be in force by the end of April, which is the period of passage of wild birds," Hasanov stressed.

Ban on hunting, sale and use of wild birds is currently kept in force in the territory of the country. Moreover, export of eggs and forage from Russia and Turkey is also prohibited.

"As far as we are informed, there is progress in the sphere of prevention of 'bird flu' virus in these countries. We will consider lifting a ban as soon as Turkey and Russia are resolve problems in this respect," he added.
