Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / On 27 March the Government of Germany will present the project of technical assistance to the sanitarian and phyto-sanitarian norms of Azerbaijan, a Government source said. The presentation will be held by the Head of the project group, representative of the Agriculture Ministry of Germany, Pudiger Ost.
The technical assistance envisages bringing the sanitarian and phyto-sanitarian system which exists in the Country into conformity with the requirements of the Agreement of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on sanitarian and phyto-sanitarian norms. The technical assistance is intended to be directed towards improving the legislation and conducting trainings.
Germany will assist in training specialists for the Agriculture Ministry of Azerbaijan and group for negotiations with WTO.
Within the project, trainings and probation periods will be held in Germany, instructions will be held on application of WTO standards and proposals will be prepared for improvement of the legislation. The technical assistance totaling €50.000 has been intended until the end of 2007. The grant agreement was signed in January 2007 at the time of Azerbaijan Agriculture Minister Ismat Abbasov's visit to Berlin.
