Standard Documents on Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary Norms Sent to WTO for Examination

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / Eldaniz Zeynalov, an employee of the international relationships sector of the State Veterinary Service of the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry, reported that the State Veterinary Service has sent to the World Trade Organization (WTO) Secretariat 20 requirements and rules on sanitary and phyto-sanitary, designed in accordance with the Law on Veterinary, adopted in 2005. He made this statement to the 6th meeting of the Azerbaijan-European Union subcommittee on trade, economy and legal issues recently held in Baku.

A total of 70 requirements and rules, of which only 20 were sent to international examination through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The rest documents were adopted at the Cabinet of Ministers. Zeynalov drew attention to supply of necessary equipment for diagnosis. Within the framework of 'bird flu' Azerbaijan received necessary supplies and relevant training was held on their use. At the present times work over establishment of veterinary laboratories in the borders is underway, Zeynalov added.
