Azerbaijani Finances Minister to Join ADB Annual Meeting

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I.Khalilova / Samir Sharifov, the Azerbaijani finance minister, left for Kioto, Japan, on 4 May to participate in the 40th annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) scheduled between the 5 and 7 May.

Along with participating in an annual meeting of the ADB, Sharifov also plans to meet with the Japanese finance minister, Koji Omi, the President of the ADB, Haruiko Kurod, the vice president, Likuin Chin, the general director, Khuan Mirando and the director of the voting group on Azerbaijan, Australia, Cambodia, Stephen Sedwick.

ADB, which was founded in 1966, unites 67 members. ADB's headquarters is located in Manila, Philippines. Azerbaijan was admitted to the ADB on 22 December 1999 and its stake in the bank's statutory capital is 0.5%.

Leading shareholders of the ADB are Japan and the United States (31.2% of total statutory capital), India and China (12.8%), Australia, South Korea and Canada (16%).
