Overdue Pension Cards to be Replaced by Chip Cards in Baku in Sumgayit

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend.Capital U. Ismaylova / The overdue pension cards in Baku and Sumgayit will be replaced by chip cards for 5 year-term, which will be used in the underground and paying of public utilities charges, the head of the State Social Security Fund, Salim Muslimov said on 11 May.

According to Muslimov, 176 cash machines were set up by 4 May in Azerbaijan (109 by International Bank of Azerbaijan and 67 by the Capital Bank), while in January the number of cash machines was 97.

The Fund which is engaged in computerization of pension system together with the International Bank, announced a tender for further activities. The state Capital Bank won the tender. The bank has set up 20 cash machines so far, another 20 will be set up in the regions of the country.

Some 57% of the pensioners in Azerbaijan (250,000 people) get their pensions through computerized system.

Muslimov applied to the president of the International Bank for purchasing of another 34 and to the Capital Bank for 60cash machines and setting them up in remote village to complete the computerization process.
