Azerbaijan’s Investment Opportunities to be Presented at EBRD Business Forum in Kazan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / 'Financing in New Countries' business forum will be held in Kazan, Tatarstan from 19-21 May within the framework of the 16th meeting of the Administrative Board of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Azerbaijan's presentation is scheduled for 21 May, a source at the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan reported on 18 May. The investment opportunities, drawing from foreign investments to non-oil fields, mandate of the Investment Company of Azerbaijan (ICA) and its role in stimulation of investments will be discussed at the meeting. The Azerbaijani Government will be represented by the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Mikail Jabbarov, and the business organizations by the Executive Director of the ICA, Anar Akhundov. The ceremony will be hosted by the Director of the Department of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, and Armenia at the bank department of the EBRD, Michael Davy.

A plenary meeting and several roundtable meetings will be held within the framework of the forum, where discussions will focus on special economic zones as regional development tools, innovation potential of Russian regions, use of finance tools in development of Russian regions, state-private partnerships as mechanism of development of economy in regions, investments to Russian regions and other issues.

The representatives of state, scientific, and business circles of Russia and Tatarstan, as well as of foreign companies that have gained a positive experience in cooperation with Russia and Tatarstan will speak at the gathering. Moreover, an exhibition will be organized at the forum where detailed information on key investment projects will be provided.

The meeting of the EBRD is scheduled for 20-21 May. Azerbaijan will be represented by the Minister of Economic Development, Heydar Babayev.
