Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I.Khalilova / The United States has determined the priorities of co-operation with Azerbaijan in the agricultural field.
Emil Majidov, the President of the Azerbaijani Fund for Export and Import Promotion, stated after the US-Azerbaijan agrarian business forum on 22 May that US companies are mainly interested in the import of juice, tomato paste, fresh fruit and vegetables from Azerbaijan.
" Azerbaijan has the necessary potential to export tomato paste. However, the distance between the two countries is a major obstacle in the export of fresh fruit and vegetables. Businessmen should themselves make a decision in this respect," Majidov stressed. He noted that any enquiries by US businessmen would be totally acceptable for Azerbaijan. At present there are some 7-8 juice extracting factories and 5 or 6 companies involved in the production of tomato paste.
Representatives from 12 US companies specializing in the agrarian sector and 150 Azerbaijan businessmen participated in the forum.
