Representatives of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Discuss Project of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend / The Transport Ministry of Azerbaijan informs that the representatives of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey discussed the project of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway in Ankara. The parties discussed the movements of trains of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey to Europe and CIS countries.

Azerbaijan has allotted $50mln to Georgia within the framework of the project on construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway. The Turkish Yuksel Domonik company is working upon the feasibility study of the Georgian part of the railway ( Turkey's feasibility study is already prepared). The development of the feasibility study will be completed in the middle of May. A tender will be announced later and therefore construction work will begin in July.

The Azerbaijani Government appointed the Ministry of Transport as the Coordinator of the project. The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan will allocate a $200mln credit to the Georgian Government through the Ministry.
