Azerbaijan To Purchase Two New French Airplanes in Summer
Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Aliyev / The State Concern AZAL reported that AZAL would purchase two new airplanes of ATR brand, which will be used for domestic flights and regional routes.
In 2008 Azerbaijan will purchase four airplanes.
AZAL will use the new French ATR company for transporting passengers to the Nakhchivan, Ganja, Lankaran and Zakatala airports.
The State concern placed an order in the French Air constructing company to purchase two airplanes of ATR-42-500S and four ATR-72-500S brands, which produce airplanes of ATR brand. The total sum of the contract amount to $97,2mln. The airplanes will accommodate fifty or seventy passengers.
The acquiring of six new airplanes will allow Azerbaijan to restore its airplane park, to exchange the airplanes of Antonov and Tupol brands and establish new regional routes.
The turnover of the ATR company made up $700mln in 2006.
