International Labour Organization to Assist Azerbaijan in Holding of International Conference

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The Director General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Huan Somavia stated on his readiness to render technical assistance to Azerbaijan in holding of international conference on provision of employment strategy in Baku.

The Director General voiced his readiness to render the assistance at the meeting with a delegation from Azerbaijan headed by Azerbaijani Labour and Social Security Minister, Fizuli Alakbarov, who participated in the 96th session of the (ILO) in Jeneva this week. The data on socio-economic reforms carried out in Azerbaijan were provided at the meeting. Somavia said that he had been informed of the reforms, the activities on implementation of the program on provision of employment strategy.

The delegation held meetings with the State Secretary of the Greek Employment and Social Security Ministry, Dimitros Kontos, the delegation headed by the Swedish Employment Minister, Swen Otto Littori, Turkish Labour and Social Security Minister, M. Bashesgioghlu, Netherlands Social Affairs and Employment Minister, Piet Hein Donner, the Secretary of the Philippine Labour and Employment Department, Arturo Brion.

The sides exchanged the data on socio-economic development of the countries, reforms and trans-national projects, including labour field and social security of the population, in particular liquidation of unemployment and improvement of living standards, as well as achieved success and importance of cooperation between the countries.
