Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend A.Ismayilova / Ziya Mammadov , the Azerbaijani Transport Minister, stated on the 19th of June that construction of the Baku-Tbilisi- Kars railway continue as scheduled.
The practical work over the project will commence at the end of August or beginning of September.
Projection of the railway will be concluded in June; hence the announcing of a tender for the selection of a contractor will take place at the end of the month. The contractor of the project will be defined in mid August and the construction of the Turkish-Georgian border to Akhalkalaki (Georgia) will commence.
The Turkish Yuksel Domonik company is working upon the feasibility study of the Georgian part of the railway ( Turkey's feasibility study is already prepared).
The Azerbaijani Government appointed the Ministry of Transport as the Coordinator of the project. The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan will allocate a $200mln credit to the Georgian Government through the Ministry.
