Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. U.Ismaylova / The most popular type of insurance in Azerbaijan is non-life insurance which made up AZN 32.72mln in the first quarter, with claims comprising AZN 24.73mln. The highest index of premiums of non-life is insurance of air travel - AZN 6.5mln.
Premiums of compulsory insurance made up AZN 3.9mln with claims comprising AZN 616,000 is the second highest of the country. The largest premiums for the first quarter belonged to compulsory insurance of military personnel which made up AZN 2,7mln with claims comprising AZN 297,000. Life insurance with AZN 24.73mln premiums is the third most popular.
The Azerbaijani Finance Ministry reported that 29 insurance companies operating in Azerbaijan received a total of AZN 36.79mln premiums in the first quarter, with claims comprising AZN 6.81mln.
On average premiums received by insurance companies increased by 29.49% in the first quarter compared to 2006. Insurance claims decreased by 43.39%.
