Inflation Exceeds 17% in Azerbaijan in Half-year of 2007: Azerbaijani Economist (video)

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend U.Ismayilova / Gubad Ibadoglu, the Head of the Economic Research Center, stated at a news conference on 29th of July that in January to June inflation in Azerbaijan made up 17.44%.

According to the specialist's estimation, the level of inflation comprised 12.03% in January 2007, 2.75% in February, 2.17% in March, and 0.64% in April. Since May the country has experienced a deflation, which was 0.18% in May and 0.13% in June.

Ibadoglu noted that the deflation observed in the country over the past two months is linked with the consumer price index (CPI) caused by seasonal factors. "Since July the prices in the country have risen. The CPI will increase in the country simultaneously, which will lead to the next wave of inflation," he added.
