Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr A. Badalova / Cooperation in the economic field has been actively developing between Azerbaijan and China during the last two years, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Jan Haijou said.
According to the Ambassador, the turnover between the two countries totalled $368mln in 2006. "If the scopes of economy are compared, that is not the best result. However, the figure is impressive; the most important is the growth rate, which comprises 48%. A higher increase is still expected," the Ambassador said.
Haijou also noted that in 2005 during the visit of the Azerbaijani President to Beijing a number of important documents were signed including the area of economics. "That laid a good base for intensive development of economic cooperation between the countries," he said.
Thirteen Azerbaijani-Chinese documents, including basic documents enabling a new quality level for bilateral relations, were signed within the framework of the Azerbaijani President's visit to Beijing on 17-19 March 2005. "The plan on regional development of Azerbaijan opens up possibilities to cooperate in such spheres as energy supply, water supply, transport communications, as well as construction and production of construction materials," Haijou said.
