( Prime-News ) - The Russian and Georgian sides failed to reach agreement on issues related to Russia's accession to World Trade Organization.

Prime-News was told at the Ministry of Economic Development of Georgia that no real progress has been noted after the negotiations held between the Georgian and Russian sides on May 31 on the aforementioned issue.

The demand of the Georgian side: legalization and proper functioning of the two illegal customs check- points located at Gantiadi-Adler and Roki-Lower Zaramag, on the Georgian-Russian border remains unaltered.

According to the statement of the Ministry of Economic Development of Georgia, the Georgian delegation presented to the Russian side a document explaining in detail Georgia's negotiating position vis-a-vis the Russian Federation in its accession process to the WTO. In response the chairman of the delegation of the Russian federation sent rather long but irrelevant letter, which fails to meet with the demands raised by the Georgian side.

Moreover Russia tries to politicize the issues related to regulation of custom checkpoints and trade.
