Azerbaijani International Bank Restores its Leadership in Exchange Market of Hard Currency

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend / The Baku Interbank Currency Exchange announced five banks, the leading operators of the exchange market in hard currency for July 2007.

The International Bank of Azerbaijan, Unibank Plc, share-commerce bank of Texnikabank, Khalgbank Plc and share-investment bank of Azerigazbank are among the five leaders of the exchange currency market. The share of IBA is 34.28%, Unibank - 10.14%, Texnikabank - 9.58%, Khalgbank - 4.48% and Azeriqazbank - 2.9%. Some twenty-six banks took part in the trade currency section of Baku Interbank Currency Exchange within July.

Some forty-four trade sessions were held and 176 deals have been signed. The volume of trade currency section made up AZN 267,925 or $313,804.The turnover of the currency section of the exchange increased by AZN 91,653 or 52% as compared to the figure in June. As a result of January-July of 2007 the volume figures of the currency section of the exchange achieved AZN 832,064 or $966,842, which is by AZN 321,848 or 63.1% more as compared to the same period in 2006.
