Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan do not Consider it Necessary to hold Next Meeting of Inter-Governmental Economic Commission

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan do not consider it necessary to hold the 4th meeting of the Inter-Governmental Economic Commission on the eve of Azerbaijan President, Ilham Aliyev's visit to Kazakhstan on 7 August, a Government source stated on 1 August. From the Azerbaijani side, the Commission is headed by the Minister of Economic Development, Heydar Babayev and from the Kazakh side - the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Baktikoja Izmuhambetov.

The previous meeting of the Commission took place in Baku at the end of April 2007. In addition, the Azerbaijani delegation headed by Babayev visited Astana and Aktau and the Kazakh delegation headed by Governor Kirimbek Kusherbayev of the Mangistaus region, visited Baku. Further the Finance Minister of Azerbaijan, Samir Sharifov, visited Astana in July to resolve debt obligations of Azerbaijan before Kazakhstan.
