Grain Sowing Areas in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to Double in Two Years

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr E. Mammadov / Grain sowing areas in Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) will double to 50,000ha within the next two years, NAR Agriculture Minister, Mammad Abbasov, said.

This year the grain sowing area in NAR made up 23,988ha. "In the next two years, grain sowing areas in NAR will be increased to 50,000ha, which will cover 50% of the population's demand," the Minister said.

This year 74,366t of grain was harvested in NAR. NAR's yearly demand in grain is 200,000t. The missing part will be covered by imports from neighbouring countries.
