Growth Rate in Industrial Production in Oil Field Exceeds 42 %

Khalilova / The amount of industrial production in Azerbaijan made up AZN 10,727,500 in January-July, or 34.7% more than in the same period of 2006, according to the State Statistics Committee. The growth rate in the extractive industry decreased (by 43.6%) making up AZN 7,787,300 with specific the weight of the total industrial production being 72.6%. Growth rate in the manufacturing factory also decreased in January-July (3.1%), comprising AZN 2,247,200 (20.9%). Production in electric energy, gas, and water fields amounted to AZN 693.1mln (5.5% decrease).

An increase in industrial production in January-July was caused by a rise in production in the oil sector, where production increased by 42.1% compared to the same period of 2006.

Production of rubber and plastic increased by 52.1%, machinery and equipment 1.9 times, transport means and equipment 2.1 times, wooden materials by 21.8%, foodstuffs by 11.9%, and construction materials by 15.2%.

The share of the non-governmental sector in the aforementioned period comprised 78.4% (AZN 8,406,100) of total industrial production. An increase in the non-governmental sector was 49.8% compared to governmental production by 1.3%. A decrease in the governmental sector was caused by a drop in chemical and electric energy production compared to the same period in 2006.
