Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / The South Korean DS company has preliminary assessed the project on re-location of Baku International Trade Port. The project was assessed at $400mln, according to the head of Investment Policy Department of the Azerbaijan Economic Development Ministry, Askar Alakbarov.
"The results of the assessment were discussed with the Azerbaijan Transport Ministry," Alakbarov said.
Along with Korean companies, the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) has shown interest in financing the project to construct a new international trade port.
The Government believes in several possibilities of construction. A new international trade port is planned to be built in Garadag region via re-location of the Baku port, and a small dry cargo port including three or four berths intended to discharge the ships with ecologically clean products such as foodstuffs is expected to be constructed in Zykh.
