Azerbaijan Returning its Electricity Debts to Iran

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Aliyev / every day Azerbaijan supplies to 1.5-1.7mln KW/h of electricity to return its debts in the volume of 400mln KW/h, Marlen Asgarov, the Vice President of Azerenerji state energy company, said.

Azerbaijan will return its electricity debt to Iran within a year. The process can be continued at the beginning of next year if necessary.

Azerbaijan provides energy supply of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through Iranian electricity. Azerbaijan receives energy in winter period when there is a deficit for electricity and return in summer when deficit is observed in Iran.

In accordance with the relevant agreement unless Azerbaijan returns electricity within a year, it will have to pay for it. The re-supply of electricity to Iran is carried out with a surplus of 11%, which are counted as a loss of ran while transmission.
