Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I.Khalilova / The drilling of an exploration well in the Azerbaijani Oil and Gas field Inam will commence early next year, Rovnag Abdullayev, the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) reported on 27 September in Baku. The depth of well will exceed 5,000m.
Earlier, drilling work was carried out in the field. High pressure in the mouth of the well however forced drillers to cease and cancel operations.
By the second half of October, restoration work will be carried out on the Istiglal drilling rig which will drill the well on Inam.
The drilling rig was in the sea for a long time [to carry out drilling in the Shah Deniz field] thus restoration work is necessary in order to continue.
ВР, the operator of the Inam project, holds a 25% share, SOCAR a 50% share, and Shell the other 25% share.
