Russia Pressing for Transportation of Hydrocarbons via Russia: Official of Central Asian Company

Kazakhstan, Almaty / corr Trend K. Konirova / Russia is strongly pressing for the transportation of hydrocarbons through its territory, Gregory Vojak, managing partner of the Central Asian company, Bracewell & Guiiani LLP, said during the International Conference KIOGE - 2007 on 3 October in Almaty.

" Kazakhstan maintains the balance and deserves praise and the cooperation between Astana and Baku, as seen in their joining the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and purchase of the oil terminal Batumi in Georgia testifies to this.

Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan signed an inter-governmental agreement on transportation of Kazakh oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.

Presently, the transport agreement is under development. The shareholders of the BTC pipeline make up four companies, which are operating in Kazakhstan. These are Chevron, Inpex, Eni and ConocoPhilips, which jointly hold a 15% participation share in the pipeline.
