Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S. Aliyev / As of 1 October, the number of operation wells of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) (excluding joint ventures and operating companies) equaled 6,175 (as per 1 September - 6,172).
Of them, 4,901 (in September - 4,893) fall on active funds, 1,260 wells (in September - 1,264) - inactive funds, and fourteen wells (in September - fifteen) are under development.
There are fifty-seven oil and gas fields operating in Azerbaijan, with eighteen offshore and the rest being onshore. SOCAR has 60,000 employees.
