Organization for Oilmen’s Rights Protection Publicizes Major Reasons for Violation of Oilmen’s Rights

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Babayeva / In January to September the public union "Organization for Oilmen's Rights Protection" has rendered legal assistance on rehabilitation of social, economic and labor rights of around 150 employees of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), foreign companies PCH, Kentek, McDermott and other companies. In this period 189 people made appeals.

The reasons and problems related to the violation of employees' rights are explained by incomplete knowledge of rights by the employees, absence of enlightenment work, willful violation of employees' rights and support by legal bodies to such violations, non-fulfillment commitments by the trades unions.

The organization said that in this period the number of dismissed employees made up approximately 300 people from SOCAR with the majority of pensioners, 14 people brought an action through legal assistance of the non-governmental organizations. He court fulfilled the appeals by 10 plaintiffs on payment of labor allowances and wages, and rehabilitation to job places.
