Ramazanova / The United States support the plans on implementation of the project on construction of Trans-Caspian gas pipeline for supplying of energy from Central Asia to Europe, the US Assistant Secretary of State on European and Eurasian Affairs Daniel Fried said at a press conference on 5 November.
"That [Trans-Caspian gas pipeline] will be an additional source for energy supply to EU countries.
The Nabucco gas pipeline will ensure gas delivery via the Mediterranean and Caspian Seas to Europe via Azerbaijan, Georgia, Tbilisi, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and Austria. The gas can go to any pipeline system in Europe - NABUCCO, Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline, etc.
"We support the role of Azerbaijan in supplying energy to EU countries," he said.
Cost of construction of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline, its carrying capacity to exceed 20bln cu m of gas a year, may constitute $10bln.
