Polish PKN Orlen to Produce Oil in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Agayeva / Polish PKN Orlen company submitted its proposals to Azerbaijani Government regarding oil production in the Caspian Sea. The representatives of the company plan to discuss the proposals with Azerbaijani Government in Baku on 7 and 8 November, Orlen's Deputy Chairman of the Board Stanislav Tsezariy said in Baku on 7 November.

" Azerbaijan is a big player in the world's energy sector and Orlen wants to expand its cooperation with the country," he said.

According to Tsezariy, PKN Orlen already cooperates with Azerbaijan within the framework of the project on construction of Odessa-Brody-Plotsk pipeline. The agreement on development of feasibility study for the pipeline was inked during the Vilnius summit in October by five Presidents - Azerbaijani, Ukrainian, Georgian, Lithuanian, and Polish. "But we want also to produce oil in Azerbaijan," he said.

Tsezariy did not specify the field Orlen wants to develop. All details will be discussed at the meetings at the Polish Fuel and Energy Ministry and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic.

Orlen's oil refineries in Poland process small assignments of Azeri Light oil. Orlen has 7 oil refineries in Poland, Lithuania and the Check Republic, and over 300 filling stations in the Check Republic, 470 in Germany, 27 in Lithuania.
