Azerbaijani International Operating Company Resumes Export of Oil via Baku-Novorossiysk Pipeline in October

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / From January to October 2007 the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), which is involved in the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields (ACG) exported 24,118mln tons of Azeri Light oil, 7.2mln tons more than last year.

Since April the AIOC ceased exports via the Baku-Novorossiysk and by rail in the direction of the Georgian port of Batumi (except the companies Exxon and Devon, participants of the AIOC). However, in September and October export of oil though railway was resumed, as operation of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline was suspended. In October 2007 a total of 107,698 tons of oil was transported in this direction, as compared to 94,810 tons in October 2006. In October 2007 Baku-Novorossiysk transported 159,517 tons of oil as compared to 273,168 tons in October 2006.

From January to October export via the Baku-Novorossiysk (northern pipeline) made up 856,304 tons compared to 2.59mln tons in the first 10 months of 2006. Export to Georgia towards the Batumi port made up 913,113 tons of oil in January to October 2007, as compared to 3.638mln tons in 2006.

In January to October 2007 913,113 tons was transported to Batumi, compared to 3.638mln tons in the samr period of 2006.

During this period 22.348mln tons of oil was transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline compared to 4.790mln in January to October 2006. In October 2007, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan exported 2.571mln tons of oil. In October 2006, it was 1.270mln.

In September the AIOC (excluding ExxonMobil and Devon) terminated oil export via the Baku-Supsa route due to repairs to the pipeline. In October 2006 a total of 392,134 tons of Azeri Light oil was transported in this direction. In January to October 2006, 5.616mln tons of oil was transported via this route.
