Azerbaijani Gas Company to be Restructured

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / In 2008-2011 the Azerbaijani gas company Azerigas will receive 49.350bln cu m of gas through its own reserves. They intend to sell 47bln cu m of gas to the public, enterprises and organizations out of this volume, the Government said.

To achieve these results there are plans to carry out work on gas admission from the Sangachal oil terminal, where it passes from Azeri, Chirag, Gusenshli, and Shah Deniz.

Moreover, work on gas supply to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and rehabilitation of gas supply to the territory of Azerbaijan will continue, the reconstruction of the Gardagh and Kalmaz gas reservoirs, the construction of Garadagh and Kalmaz gas reservoirs, main gas pipelines and control metering junctions to supply gas to the Azerbaijani thermo-power station and Ali-Bayramli Thermo-power stations, and the Digah-Sumgayit gas pipeline was carried out.

To establish a transparent body for managing the natural gas collection and distribution in 2008-2011 in line with the market economy there are plans to restructure Azerigas closed joint stock company.

Moreover, with respect to strengthening the financial discipline in the gas supply sector there are plans to supply the population with meters, reduce losses, improve logistics in the gas supply system, reconstruct main and supply pipelines, as well as a system for gas transportation from new fields.

In 2007 Azerigas expects to receive gas in the volume of 9.149.4mln cu m. Some 3.25bln of the total volume is allocated for the public, 1.485bln for industrial enterprises, and 3.690bln for Azerenergy joint stock company.
