Kazakhstan Prepared to Provide non- Discriminated Access to European Companies for Oil Transportation

Kazakhstan, Astana / corr Trend K.Konirova / Kazakhstan is prepared to provide non-discriminated access to European companies for transportation of oil that they produce in its territory, Janar Aytjanova, the Deputy Industry and Trade Minister said.

" Kazakhstan offers to solve the issue on transportation of energy resources within Kazakhstan's legislation. With respect to companies and pipeline systems, that are natural monopolies and are regulated by the Government, we are prepared to undertake obligations to provide non-discriminated access to European companies for transportation of energy products of their own production in Kazakhstan within the technical capacity of the pipelines," Aytjanova said.

She recalled that energy transit through the country's territory is one of the major issues in the negotiations on expansion of cooperation between Kazakhstan and EU countries. According to Aytjanova, nearly 70% of Kazakh export to Europe comprises of oil.

"The last negotiations held in Brussels shows that we have come to an agreement. The EU appraised our intention to solve this issue within the appropriate legislation and prepared to undertake obligations. The talks will continue," Aytjanova said.
