Azerbaijan, Ganja / Т corr V. Mammadov / The installation of meters that work with smart-cards began in Ganja, the Director of Ganja Regional Power Supply LLC, Eldar Eldarov said.
The main advantage of the new meters is that it will be impossible to falsify readings. These meters will provide the public with normal electric power and will enable 100% collection of payments.
Installation of the meters will be completed within six months. As a result, 70,000 subscribers in Ganja will have electronic meters.
According to Eldarov, one new meter costs AZN 140.
The meters were made by the Chinese company STAR. Nine employees of the company are taking part in the installation process.
"They help us in two directions. Some help us in laying energy distributing cables for every five subscribers, others help in installation of the metres," he said.
A total of 500 smart-meters have been put into operation.
