Kazakhstan, Astana / corr Trend K.Arinova / Kazakhstan is prepared for expansion of the alliance, which intends to build a new oil refinery plant (ORP) in Turkey. Kazakhstan would prefer to see extractive companies among new participants of the alliance, which includes KazMunayGas, Turkish Calik Enerji, Oil India and Italian ENI, Daniyar Berlibayev, Vice President of KazMunayGas, said.

The participation of SOCAR in the alliance depends on this company's decision, he said.

The alliance intends to build an oil refinery plant with the capacity of 20mln tons a year in Ceyhan. UIti planned to increase the designed capacity due to Turkey's rapidly growing demand in oil products, as well as existence of crude in big volumes. Oil will be delivered via the BTC pipeline, as well as two pipelines to run from Iran-Kirkuk-Ceyhan and the Samsun-Ceyhan pipeline. In addition to the construction of the oil refinery itself, the project envisages erecting all the port infrastructures.

The construction of the ORP is scheduled to be completed by 2012. There are plans to produce a large range of oil products: all types of high quality petrol, mazut, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene and petro-chemical products. At the end of this month the participants in the project plan to sign a memorandum in mutual understating and agreement of shareholders in Astana.
