Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend A.Badalova /Gasprom, the Russian gas giant, came out against the access of the foreign companies to the strategic fields in Russian. The company's position was stated by the Alexander Ananenkov, deputy chairman of the Managing Board. Ananenkov said that the monopoly is dissatisfied with the current state of the production sharing the agreement in the country, RIA Novosti reports.
Azer Mursaliyev, a political expert, the deputy editor-in-chief of the Russian daily Kommersant, such a disagreement by Gasprom is of trade character, Gasprom tries to hold the so-called exchange of the fields to the stock, so as to gain an access to the European market. "Gasprom is holding the difficult talks, which target the exchange of access to the strategic fields so as to open new opportunities for the Gasprom for the entrance into the European market," Mursaliyev said in a telephone interview from Moscow.
The Russian Ministry of Natural Resources has simplified a mechanism for the access of the foreign companies to the strategic fields in the country. Non-residents, who earlier did not have an access key to the major natural wealth fields, now are allowed to participate in auctions on the strategic natural wealth. The analyst that this decision was linked with the necessity of conducting qualitative development of the fields.
"The necessity for the access of the foreign companies to the Russia's strategic fields is linked with their possession of new technology, which Russia requires presently," he said.
