Azerbaijan to Increase Gas Export to   Turkey in 2008: Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend / In 2008 it is planned to export approximately 6bln cu m of gas from the Shah Deniz field, Natik Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Minister for Industry and Energy, said in an interview for local media.

At present Azerbaijan covers 75% of Georgia's demand in blue fuel through export of gas from this field, as well as export of own gas to the State Oil Company.

Aliyev said that connection of the Turkish and Greek gas transportation networks at the expense of construction of crosspiece this year will provide Azerbaijan with opportunities for gas transportation. The first gas delivered via the new system between Turkey and Georgia was Azerbaijani fuel.

Over 11 months of 2007 some 2.75bln cu m of gas and 850,000 tons of condensate was produced from the Shah Deniz field. Some 670.4mln cu m of gas was transported via the South Caucasus gas pipeline.
