Kazakhstan, Astana, 17 January / corr Trend K.Konirova / The role of KazMunayGas in the North-Caspian project will be strengthened, Maksat Idenov, the first vice President of KazMunayGas National Oil Company of Kazakhstan, said in talks with journalists on 17 January.
"Specialists of the national company will be represented in all levels ranging from technical to financial during the decision-making to establish the new operating company in the North Caspian company," Idenov said. He added that in the course of future progress of the project the national specialists will take a considerable role in its decision-making.
Idenov said in talks with Trend Special Correspondent that the name of the new operating company is still to be confirmed. "This is currently being processed."
This week Sauat Minbayev, the Kazakh Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources, reported to a news conference in Astana on the results of talks on the Kashagan field. The new company will undertake operator ship in the project and will unite all participants in the Agip KCO.
"The sides have agreed to realize a new operation model which envisages the establishment of a new operating company with the participation of all participants of the consortium with the major role of the national. Under this operating company Agip KCO will continue to realize the industrial phase in the project," the minister.
Minbayev said that by the end of May the process to commence the new operator ship in the project will be finalised. The responsibility of every company will be strictly defined and the company which is in charge of definite work will have its own budget and certain financial responsibility.
