Suspension in Gas Supply by Azerigaz not Affecting Gas Export to Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi / Тrend corr N. Kirtskhalia / The Suspension of the gas supply by Azerigaz CJSC did not affect the gas export to Georgia. According to the Georgian Gas and Oil Corporation, the natural gas was compensated from the other sources.

The Corporation did not divulge the sources, but noted that those are the Azerbaijani private companies.

Azerigaz daily supplied 1.3bln cu m of gas to Georgia at the price of $120 per 1,000 cu m. However, on 6 January, the period of the agreement on gas supply expired and the export was suspended. The Corporation confirmed that they are negotiating for the restoration of the gas transportation and possible increase in the tariffs of the gas.

According to preliminary reports, the tariff may rise to $170-180 per 1,000 cu m.
