Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 March / Trend corr S. Aliyev/ The depth of exploration well in the prospective field Inam, located in Azerbaijan's section of the Caspian Sea, comprised 4,500 metres.
According to the experts, depth has reached the 8th layer of Balakhani Svita. No hydrocarbons have been found yet. This layer has about 10% of gas reserves in the nearest off-shore Bulla-Deniz field. An 11-inch casing pipe is being pushed into the well. After that, a 9-inch column will be used during the drilling process.
The drilling is being carried out from the Istiglal rig and is scheduled to last over 200 days. The depth of the well will comprise 5,300 metres.
The well is being drilled in the contracted area of 225 sq km, which is 140km south of Baku. The depth at the area varies between 45 and 200 m.
The partners to the Inam project are the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (50%), BP (25%, operator), the Korean National Oil Corporation (20%) and Shell (5%).
