Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 April /corr. Trend S.Aliyev / In April, Azerbaijan will re-establish the repaying of the electricity debt to Iran, the Vice President of Azerenergy JSC, Marlen Askerov, said on 2 April. The electricity debt is 200mln KWt/h.

Azerbaijan ensures the electricity demand of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic at the expense of supplies from Iran. Azerbaijan receives electricity from Iran during the winter period in case of an electricity deficit and returns it in the summer in case of any deficit in Iran.

According to the agreement, if during the year Azerbaijan cannot return the whole volume of electricity, the debt should be paid in cash. However, Iran refused to be paid in cash, therefore, the debt will be returned in terms of electricity only.
