SOCAR Supplies Iran with 30mln cu. m of Gas

Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 April / Trend / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) supplied 30mln cu. meters of gas to Iran in March and February, said SOCAR. The supply of gas via Azerigas pipelines began in February.

Gas is transported to Iran at $300 for 1,000 cu. meters. The contract was signed on supply of 30mln cu. meters of gas and it can be prolonged.

At present, the non- operating Gazi-Mahammad-Astara-Bind-Biand gas pipeline, with a total length of 1474.5km (296.5km in Azerbaijan) connects Azerbaijan and Iran. Its carrying capacity makes up 10bln cu m a year. This route is a branch of Gazakh-Astara-Iran pipeline, which was put into the exploitation in 1971. Three compressor stations have been constructed along with the pipeline - in Gazi-Mahammad, Agdash and Gazakh. The gas-transporting system has been envisaged for the pressure of 55 atmospheres. The diameter of the pipeline is 1200mm.
