Georgia, Tbilisi, 15 April / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia / The average price for 1 ton of diesel fuel increased by 25% or $200 and totaled $1,020 during first quarter of 2008. Vano Mtvralashvili, Chairman of Georgian Union of Importers, Producers and Consumers of mineral oil, stated during the press-conference that the increase in prices of diesel in Georgia was caused by increase of prices for oil-loading cargo.
Today, 1 litre of diesel imported from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan to Georgia is 1.65 lari.
"People engaged in agricultural housing have to pay high prices for the diesel, which negatively affects cost of production,' Mtvralashvili stated.
