Moldova Plans to Cooperate with Azerbaijan in Energy sector : Ambassador

Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 April / corr. Trend S. Agayeva/ Moldova plans to cooperate with Azerbaijan in energy sector. Talks in this regard will be held on 23 April in Baku at higher level, during official visit of Vladimir Voronin, Moldavian President to Azerbaijan, stated Yon Robu, the Ambassador of Moldova to Azerbaijan, on 22 April.

The Presidents of Azerbaijan and Moldova, Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Voronin, will consider opportunities of establishing energy cooperation. The President of Moldova will also hold separate talks with Rovnag Abdullayev, the President of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Ambassador said.

An inter-government agreement on cooperation in the fuel and energy complex and Memorandum between Moldavian government and SOCAR will be signed as a result of the talks.

The energy cooperation is one of the principle components of cooperation among GUAM (Organization for Democracy and Economic Cooperation) member states. The serious progress in this regard is expected to be achieved in the conference which will be held on 21-22 May in Kiev. It will be a continuation of Krakov summit initiated by Polish President Lekh Kachinski in 2006 and continued in 2007 in Vilnius at the initiative of Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus.
