Oil Export from Caspian Region to Exceed 3mln Barrels a Day by 2010

Azerbaijan, Baku, 24 April / corr. Trend E. Ismayilov/ Oil export from the Caspian region will total 3.119mln barrel a day in 2010 and 4.354mln barrels a day in 2015, Amin Isgandari, the director of Petroleum Refinery Department of Iranian NIORDC said during the second Caspian oil and gas and trade and transport conference in Baku on 25 April. In 2020, the export of oil from the Caspian region will increase to 4.654mln barrels.

In 2010, with reference to the export from the Caspian region, Azerbaijan's share will total 1.301mln barrels a day, Kazakhstan 1.522mln barrels a day, Turkmenistan 0.126mln barrels a day and Russia 0.170mln barrels a day.

In 2015, with reference to the export from the Caspian region, Azerbaijan's share will total 1.363mln barrels a day, that of Kazakhstan - 2.396mln barrels a day, Turkmenistan - 0.155mln barrels a day, and Russia - 0.440mln barrels a day, said Isgandari.

In 2020, with reference to the export from the Caspian region, Azerbaijan's share will total 1.253mln barrels a day, Kazakhstan 2.998mln barrels a day, Turkmenistan 0.078mln barrels a day and Russia 0.325mln barrels a day.

According to Isgandari, the capacity of principal export pipelines in the Caspian region will be increased to 4.555mln barrels a day against the current 2.730mln barrels a day.

In 2015, the port capacity of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Iran will make up 150.5mln tons a year against 85.7mln tons in 2007, he said.

The factors limiting oil export from the Caspian region are the outstanding state borders in the Caspian Sea and the investment environment, Isgandari said.

The oil reserves of the Caspian region totals 200bln barrels and world oil reserves totals to 1200bln barrels.
