Georgia Commences Electric Power Export to Turkey

Georgia, Tbilisi, 29 April / Trend corr N. Kirtskhalia/ Georgia has commenced the export of electric power to Turkey in accordance with the Barter agreements. According to the Georgian Electric Power System Commercial Operator, about 2.5mln KW/hour electric power per day is exported to Turkey.

Thus Georgia is now returning back the power, which was supplied by Turkey to Ajaria in the winter. After the debt is over, Georgia will be able to sell the remaining power to the country.

Previously, Georgia commenced power export to Russia as well to return its debt. The volume of export exceeds 5mln KW/hour per day.

Georgia produces 27.539mln KW/hour of power per day (11.8mln KW/hour is produced at Inguri hydroelectric power station), and consumes 19.91mln KW/hour.
