Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 May / Trend / The cooperation in the fuel and energy sector will become a strategic direction of further interstate partnership between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, stated in Baku on 20 May.
In his remarks, the Turkmen President said that "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan" conference would be held in Baku in September 2008.
"One of the important spheres of mutual cooperation is transport," the President said. Favorable geopolitical situation of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, located in the junction of Asia and Europe, enables to use this advantage of the neighboring countries for their own interest and in the interest of other countries, both in the East and west, the leader of Turkmenistan said.
At present, Turkmenistan is taking considerable steps to develop the transport infrastructure. Turkmenistan, together with its partners from Kazakhstan and Iran, has set up the implementation of the North-South project. "I know that the similar construction work is also carried out in Azerbaijan. So, we are not dealing with rivalry, but difficult efforts which promises economic profits for all countries of the region, will certainly contribute in increasing the volume of cargo transportation and passenger deliveries," Berdimuhamedov said.
According to Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan is prepared to export to Azerbaijan products of textile, chemical industry and different goods manufactured at enterprises with advanced equipment.
