Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 June /corr. Trend E.Ismaylov / Azerbaijan will not insist on Turkmenistan's participation in the Nabucco pipeline project and on gas transportation from this country via Azerbaijan, Natig Aliyev, Minister of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan, said on 20 June.
"We will not offer, put pressure or invite Turkmenistan to participate in the Nabucco project. We will not do it," Aliyev said.
Azerbaijan may create conditions if Turkmenistan itself decides to transport part of its gas reserves via the territory of Azerbaijan.
Totaling $12.4bln, from 2013 Nabucco will transport gas from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to the EU. The parties to the project are Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE, each owning 16.67%.
Gas delivery from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan may be carried out through planned Trans-Caspian Pipeline, with a capacity of 30bln cu.m of gas per year, which is implied to be constructed via Caspian. The gas pipeline in length of up to 2,000km envisages exporting Turkmen gas to Turkey via Azerbaijan.
