Kazakhstan Interested in Purchasing Oman’s Shares in Caspian Pipeline Consortium

Kazakhstan, Astana, 4 July / corr. Trend K.Konirova / Kazakhstan wants to increase its shares in the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) by purchasing shares of Oman's Sultan in the project, Timur Kulibayev, the chairman of KazEnergy Association, told Trend in Astana on 4 July. Earlier Oman announced the sale of 7% of its shares in this project.

Kulibayev touching upon the opportunities on purchasing these shares by other companies said that 'purchase to the third person will not be realized without Russia and Kazakhstan's permission'.

Some 7% of Oman's shares in the CPC amount to $700mln.

The CPC shares are distributed among Russia - 24%, Kazakhstan - 19%, Oman Sultanate - 7%, Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium Company - 15%, LUKARCO B.V. - 12,5%, Rosneft-Shell Caspian Ventures Limited - 7,5%, Mobil Caspian Pipeline Company - 7,5%, Agip International (N.A.) N.V. - 2%, BG Overseas Holding Limited - 2%, Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures LLC - 1,75%, Oryx Caspian Pipeline LLC - 1,75%.
