Poland, Krynitsa, 12 September /corr. Trend V.Sharifov / "Ukraine expects from Azerbaijan 8bln cu.m of natural gas per year, which can be supplied via the planned gas pipeline "White Stream", the Chairman of National Commission for Regulation of Power Industry of Ukraine, Valerie Kalchenko, told Trend on 12 September.
According to him, at the first stage the capacity of the gas pipeline "White Stream" will be 18bln cu.m of gas per year, 10bln of which Ukraine expects from Turkmenistan and eight - from Azerbaijan.
"The maximum capacity of pipeline "White Stream" can reach 30bln cu.m" said Kalchenko, participating in the 18th economic forum, which took place in the Polish City of Krynitsa this week. The Chairman of the National Commission appeared in difficulty to describe the periods of the implementation of project.
Kalchenko named the possibility of country's joining the planned gas pipeline Nabucco as one other version of diversifying gas supplies in Ukraine,."Soon it is necessary for us to make a choice - or we will attempt to make our project or to be connected to the gas pipeline Nabucco," said Kalchenko in its speech at the seminar "Deliveries of natural gas to Central and East Europe - economic conditionality of supplier-country and user-country", which took place within the framework of the forum.
Annual gas demand of Ukraine is 65-66bln cu.m. The country is technically capable to reserve 34bln cu.m. of gas.
