SOCAR Prepares to Operate New Wells on Large Offshore Field

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 October /corr. Trend E.Ismaylov / By the end of October, Oil and Gas Production Unit 'Neft Dashlari' of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) will start operating three oil wells in production area No 2214, a source at the Unit said on 18 October.

"The wells have already been drilled, and in 7-10 days, we will begin their operation," the same source said.

The forecasted daily output from each well will comprise 10 tons. The wells are planned to be in operation by the end of the year.

These measures are realized within the order of the President of Azerbaijan on increase in the output at the Unit from 812,000 tons of oil to 1.2mln tons. In 2008 the total volume of oil production on the field will be 936,420 tons. The Unit plans to increase oil production in 2009 to 1.2mln tons, SOCAR said formerly.

The Unit also carries out assembly works in four of six reservoirs of new reservoir park. The building of areas goes for other two reservoirs. Works are conducted in accordance with the plan, and by the end year, new reservoir park will be put into use.In general, the Unit plans to establish six new reservoirs, one of which will be used for the separation of raw material. The volume of each of the reservoirs is 2,000 tons, diameter - 15 meters, height - 12 meters.

According to the estimations of the geologists of SOCAR, the residual volumes of oil on the field of Neft Dashlari are 30mln tons. By 2010, SOCAR will drill 78 new wells for an increase in the oil production on the field.
