Iran, Russia and Qatar Take Decision to Establish Organization in Gas Sphere Like OPEC: Iranian Petroleum Minister
Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 October / Trend / Iran, Russia and Qatar have achieved an agreement on establishment of a new organization in the gas sphere. The new organization will resemble the OPEC.
Golamhossein Nozari, the Iranian Petroleum Minister, said on 21 October that serious decisions related establishment of organization in the oil sphere was achieved at the meeting.
Experts said that members of the new organization would hold consultations to sign new gas contracts. The countries, which will be united in the organization, are also expected to influence on change of gas prices. Under the BP report ('World energy -2008'), Russia takes the first place due to the gas reserve consumption - 44.65bln cu m, Iran - the second place with 27.8 cu m and Qatar - the third place with 25.6bln cu m of gas.
